Scottsville is positioned at 36 45 5 N 86 11 34 W (36.751504, -86.192692). According to the United States Enumeration Bureau, the town/city has a total region of 5.8 square miles (15 km2), all of it land.

According to the Koppen Climate Classification system, Scottsville has a humid subtropical climate, abbreviated "Cfa" on climate maps. As of the census of 2010, there were 4,226 citizens , 1,861 homeholds, and 1,130 families residing in the city.

There were 2,066 housing units at an average density of 356.2 per square mile (137.5/km2).

Scottsville is home of the chief settlement of the Noah Hoover Mennonites, also called "Scottsville Mennonites", a branch of Old Order Mennonites.

They moved to Scottsville in 1978, coming from Snyder County, Pennsylvania. Scottsville Public Schools are part of the Allen County Schools School District.

The precinct has one elementary school, one intermediate school, one middle school, and one high school.

Students attend Allen County Scottsville High School. Scottsville's square contains a handful of shops.

Scottsville is home to a weekly newspaper, the Citizen-Times, which was established in 1890.
